The shows come at a notable moment for the band. In September, Beoga left Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour after Macklemore was removed from it, with the band saying that playing venues that silence anyone advocating for a Free Palestine “is simply not an option” for them. They are founding members of Irish Artists for Palestine, and say the response from fans and the wider music community has been an outpouring of support. These home-turf Belfast dates, and the Dublin residency, promise to be a celebration of the band and the people who back them.

Their latest release, Phases, arrived in the middle of all that. After several years working on their own individual projects, the band are back together and energised as a five-piece, and the album revisits their traditional roots and original sound while exploring new ground in production and instrumentation. “We are being more creative than we’ve ever been,” says Murray, with Niamh Dunne calling the record a reflection of who the band are after two decades of influences.

Formed in the north of Ireland, Beoga have spent more than 20 years bringing a restless approach to traditional music to audiences around the world. Their career highlights include a Grammy nomination for The Incident and their work with Ed Sheeran on ÷, which led to a record-breaking Irish stadium tour in 2018 and, most recently, the 2026 Loop Tour. The Wall Street Journal once called them “the most exciting new traditional band to emerge from Ireland this century”, and their 2020 mini album Carousel took them into pop-folk territory with producer Jonny Coffer and guests including Foy Vance, Ryan McMullan, Niall McCabe, Lissie and Devin Dawson. More recently they’ve sold out headline tours of the US, Australia and New Zealand, and played Port Fairy Folk Festival, WOMADelaide and Perth Festival.
