Quiet Light

A catch-up of recent gig announcements from across Ireland over the past few weeks.

Ibibio Sound Machine play Button Factory on Friday October 9th. The British-Nigerian afro-futurist collective led by Eno Williams blend West African rhythms, disco, post-punk and global club music into one of the most genuinely thrilling live shows around. Their sixth album is due this year on Merge Records. Tickets on sale now via singularartists.ie.

Romare plays a DJ set at Fidelity Studio on Friday October 23rd, doors 10pm. Archie Fairhurst’s project has spent a decade making meticulously constructed sample-based music that draws as deeply from blues, soul and hip-hop as it does from club music – his Ninja Tune albums have earned him a devoted following in that overlap of beat culture and dancefloor. Tickets via Eventbrite.

Quiet Light (AKA Riya Mahesh) plays Bello Bar, Dublin on Saturday November 7th – her Irish debut, presented by Foggy Notions. The Texas-based producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist makes what she calls “dream sequences” – Lynchian, liminal electropop that threads ambient, folk and sharp pop songwriting together. She’s toured with Nilüfer Yanya, Erika de Casier and Chanel Beads, earned co-signs from Iggy Pop and The FADER, and has a new mixtape Blue Angel Sparkling Silver 2 on True Panther (Oklou, Grace Ives) coming. Tickets €21.50 including booking fee via foggynotions.ie.

Morgana announced her debut album The Whole Thing Was Very Very Emotional for September, and now we have some tour dates to talk about – Four Irish dates in December: Dolan’s Kasbah Limerick (December 16th), Róisín Dubh Galway (December 17th), Savoy Cork (December 18th) and Whelan’s Dublin (December 20th), before heading to the UK in February 2027 for McChuills Glasgow (February 9th), Yes Basement Manchester (February 10th) and The Lower Third London (February 11th). Tickets via morgana.ie.

Two Door Cinema Club mark the 15th anniversary of their seminal debut album Tourist History. The Bangor trio will play the album in full alongside a career-spanning set, with the tour opening at 3Arena, Dublin on Saturday January 23rd 2027, with The Royston Club as support for the Irish and Belfast dates. The shows follow a Madison Square Garden headline and a 25,000-capacity sold-out Crystal Palace Park show this year. Fan presale begins Wednesday July 1st at 9am, general sale Friday July 3rd via Ticketmaster.

Galway International Arts Festival runs July 13th-26th, and this year the festival has partnered with Róisín Dubh, Monroe’s Live and St. Nicholas’ Church to present 33 gigs alongside the main Big Top programme. At the Róisín Dubh: The Wellermen (13th), Just Mustard (14th), The Latchikos (16th), David Kitt’s The Big Romance 25th anniversary show (18th), Glasshouse performing Sigur Rós (19th), Gwenno (20th), The Wran with Groev (21st), Lloyd Cole (23rd), Sprints (24th & 25th), SexyTadhg (26th), Paddy Hanna performs Burt Bacharach (26th). At Monroe’s Live: Lucy Rose (15th), a run of Traditional Music Showcases, Bricknasty (17th), Le Boom (17th), Badly Drawn Boy (21st), Tolü Makay (23rd), Cardinals (24th) , and more. Full programme and booking at giaf.ie.

SIGNS returns at The Sugar Club on Saturday July 11th for a daytime outdoor party. Amsterdam’s Mendel headlines, with UWM and Crispy Jason both playing live sets. One of the better DJ/live event series running in Dublin right now. Limited early tickets via Eventbrite.

Nick Hakim plays The Workman’s Club on Friday October 30th, presented by Foggy Notions. The Brooklyn-based singer and producer’s woozy, soul-inflected songwriting has made him one of the most distinctive voices in alternative R&B over the past decade. Presale via foggynotions.ie.

Arrested Development play Button Factory, Dublin on Wednesday August 26th – their first Irish show in over eight years, presented by Selective Memory. Speech and the collective are on their ‘Legacy In Motion’ tour, and the prospect of ‘Tennessee’, ‘People Everyday’ and ‘Mr. Wendal’ in a room that size is hard to argue with. Two Grammy wins in 1993, Rolling Stone’s Band of the Year, and still one of the most distinctive catalogues in hip-hop. Tickets via selectivememory.ie.

Hana Stretton plays the Unitarian Church, Dublin on Saturday September 5th. The Australian-British multi-instrumentalist, songwriter & producer is joined by special guest Woom, presented by Foggy Notions. Tickets via foggynotions.ie.

Natalia Beylis & Eimear Reidy play a rare duo show at the Unitarian Church, Dublin on Wednesday September 30th, presented by Enthusiastic Eunuch, to mark a repress of their 2023 LP She Came Through the Window. Two of the most quietly singular voices in Irish experimental music. Tickets via Eventbrite.

nimino plays Button Factory on Sunday November 8th. The London producer’s collaborative, genre-blurring approach to dance music has made him one of the more interesting names to emerge from that scene in recent years. Tickets €25 including booking fees, on sale now via singularartists.ie and Ticketmaster.

Sorcha Richardson announces Irish headline shows at The Gleneagle Club, Killarney (Thursday November 5th) and The Academy, Dublin (Friday November 6th), as part of her Ireland & UK tour. Her third album Draw The Outline was written in West Kerry and recorded in Belfast with Chris W. Ryan (Just Mustard, Chalk, NewDad) – a confident, contemplative record about letting go of who you tell yourself you are. Tickets Dublin €29, Killarney €27.50 (inc fees), on sale Friday at 10am.

Sorcha Richardson joins Hen’s Teeth’s 6 Tracks series on Thursday July 30th, 6:30pm-10:30pm. The format is a curated evening built around an artist’s own selection of six tracks that shaped them. Tickets via Eventbrite.

Let Me Get This Off My Chest is a gender affirming care fundraiser event at Wild Duck, Temple Bar on Thursday July 17th. Organised by Molly Sterling, the night raises funds for gender affirming care with a full live music and DJ lineup. Details and tickets.

Ambient in the Forest is a day festival at Killykeen Forest Park, Cavan on Monday August 3rd, noon to 6pm. Organised by Music Society Cavan, it’s a family-friendly, substance-free showcase of emerging Irish artists: Indigo’s Ego, Lazember, Webbs, Helen Cantrell, Winterking, Lil’ Phynott, Alison Shortt, Claire Crehan and Gráinne across the outdoor forest stage. Tickets via Eventbrite.

Brandon Flowers returns to Dublin for a headline show at 3Olympia Theatre on Tuesday October 27th, in support of his third solo album Thrasher – a shift toward Americana and the country-western traditions of his small-town Utah upbringing, recorded in Nashville with David Rawlings, Bruce Bouton and 85-year-old harmonica legend Charlie McCoy. . Tickets €61.90-€81.90 including booking fee, on sale Friday July 3rd at 10am via Ticketmaster.
