About Body & Soul Festival

Body & Soul returns in 2023 for an incredible thirteenth edition. Across a three day celebration of the diverse, creative landscape of Ireland, this year’s theme of ‘community’ is weaved into the very fabric of the festival to celebrate and spotlight each of the boundary breaking makers, musicians, artists, performers and free-thinking festival goers that have journeyed with Body & Soul year-on-year.

An immersive festival unlike any other, Body & Soul has brought together a stunning programme for 2023’s edition of exhilarating live acts, from music and comedy, to cabaret and spoken word, alongside exceptional DJs and a host of creative, interactive experiences, curated with extraordinary care and with community at its beating heart – all of which occurs across a new, carefully redesigned festival layout, but situated, as always, in the midst of the breathtaking beauty of Ballinlough Castle Estate.

Revellers will be treated to performances from the best in homegrown and international talent at the Body & Soul Stage with top highlights including Moderat, The Blaze, Fever Ray, Alison Goldfrapp, The Murder Capital, MEUTE, Kurt Vile & The Violators, Kneecap; as well as Hennessy Hip Hop Music Trail artists, Kojaque, Fabio & Grooverider and The Outlook Orchestra and Denise Chaila.

Running in tandem, will be a series of talks and workshops charting the culture and influence of hip hop from some of the best in the business across the weekend.

As the Solstice sun fades, the tempo surges across Body & Soul, and at the very centre of it all lies the incredible Toby Hatchett designed, 35 foot tall, totem-like performance space – The Beacon Soundsystem – home to a mind bending array of world class international and local DJs and hypnotic live performers, including a landmark All Female Friday line up led by Avalon Emerson (AD 93) and joined under the Ballinlough skies by Shanti CelesteHAAi, Lolz, Efa O’Neill and Sara Miller. Saturday & Sunday follow with even more top tier DJs like The Blessed MadonnaGerd Janson, Coco Maria, Gilles Peterson, the incomparable Mother DJs & Críu and the now infamous, Pagan Rave, the ultimate primal, pagan-inspired party to welcome in the summer solstice through movement, ritual, mask, music, and wild festivities.

The Secret Orchard stage, hosted by Bulmers, will showcase an eclectic mix of live music from artists like Sorcha Richardson, Real Lies, THUMPER, Ailbhe Reddy, Junior Brother,  Rachel Mae Hannon, Tebi Rex alongside live podcast sessions from I’m Grand Mam and Louise McSharry, comedy from acts like David O’Doherty and Alison Spittle alongside a collection of DJs, talks, and occurrences throughout the weekend in the wonderful walled gardens.

A festival that values wellness at its core, the Body & Soul offering at the Sanctuary is expanding this year. The Sanctuary is Body & Soul’s cornerstone and acclaimed wellness space, featuring wood fired saunas, tribal spirit drumming, kirtan and yoga salons and an extensive array of holistic therapies including thai massage, aromatherapy, indian head massage and reflexology. Adding to the offering of quieter spaces is the new Solas stage, where festival goers can reset and relax with a healing sound bath, breathwork journey, yoga flow, engage in the communal and ancient art of storytelling with Seanchoíche or a set of bespoke ambient evening interludes with The Longest Light.

Food On Board, Ireland’s first Circular food court, presents a brand new stage Breaking Bread, where conversation, workshops, feasts and tantalising tastings take place, while the Cabin In The Woods is a treasure trove worth exploring to find the sounds to keep you moving all night long. For Hendrick’s gin & tonic enthusiasts, prepare to experience a brand new space to sip in the botanical filled walled-gardens, where sublime dressing is coupled with playfully peculiar characters and personalities providing refreshing encounters to festival goers over the weekend at the Pavilion Of The Peculiar.

The original immersive festival innovator, rooted in sustainability, committed to inclusivity and diversity, with a twelve-year legacy of success, Body & Soul is renowned for pushing boundaries, creating unique experiences and going the extra mile to create an unrivalled weekend of music, arts & wellbeing. With sustainability behind everything Body & Soul does, this year the festival will keep numbers at just 5,000 weekend tickets that are all assigned to Leave No Trace Camping, for a boutique and intimate, yet respectful and community driven weekend for those seeking adventure and discovery.
