The Wicklow female four-piece have been buzzing online for a while already, and been trending on social apps Instagram and TikTok with their engaging live performance clips.
The band’s first single ‘Heavy’ backs up that activity with a fine opening gambit after licensing their music to Warner Music UK.
The song was produced by John Hill, and was written on the band’s first trip to LA, and shines with bright melodic verses and indie-rock arrangements, it’s got an accessible pop punk garage (literally) rock feel to it.
Florence Road are Lily Aron (Vocals), Emma Brandon (Guitar), Ailbhe Barry (Bass) and Hannah Kelly (Drums), and they formed after spending most of their teens in Aron’s garden shed, with influences drawn from The Cranberries, Fleetwood Mac, Wolf Alice and Phoebe Bridgers.
Listen to the recording on various platforms at this link or watch a live version from their shed in question, directed by Owen Kasparian below.
