Cherym fend off the cold with summery melodies on Abigail (premiere)
Cherym are definite ones to watch. The Derry trio has had an impressive year racking up slots at Stendhal, Knockanstockan, Indiependence and Electric Picnic with their electrifying, incredibly fun live performances. Dealing in singalong pop-punk anthems, Cherym are a refreshing blast of earnest songwriting and nostalgic joy – it’s nigh on impossible to not bounce along with their power chord riffs and riot-grrrl inspired vocals.
Today, we’re premiering their new song ‘Abigail’ – the lead single off their upcoming second EP.
‘Abigail’ is a characteristically effervescent cut from the trio. Calling to mind the heyday of early noughties, Drive-Thru Records pop-punk, ‘Abigail’ is a blast of sugary sweet melodies, robust guitars and heart on sleeve lyricism. Pop-punk’s star may have faded in recent years but Cherym breathes life into the sound with another irrepressibly catchy and charming number that showcases an ear for melody and a new-found sense of confidence.
Cherym are heading on tour this November.
Nov 16th – The A.O.H., Derry
Nov 29th – Other Voices, Dingle
Nov 30th – Central Arts, Waterford
