After yesterday’s main Irish album of the year prize revealed its ten albums up for the Choice this year, the five artists nominated in the Artist Of The Year shortlist has also been announced.
As announced on RTÉ 2FM today by Beta Da Silva on The Tracy Clifford Show, the five nominated artists are:
- CMAT
- Fontaines D.C.
- Jazzy
- Jordan Adetunji
- Kneecap
There’s no doubt that all five artists have had stellar years. The Fontaines are already nominated for Best album for Romance, culminating in world tours and two 3Arena shows, and Jazzy’s dance and pop music continues to infiltrate the charts through her own tracks and collaborations with Casso, Sonny Fodera and Belters Only.
Jazzy and Fontaines D.C. were Previous winners of the Artist of the Year prize though, while CMAT won the Irish album of the year in 2023, but has continued to thrive most recently in her stellar performance on Jools on New Year’s Eveperforming the Harry Nilsson classic ‘Without You’.
Kneecap’s 2024 was obviously a massive one – a critically acclaimed film / loose biopic that is tipped for an Oscar, a debut album on Heavenly and huge shows in Dublin, Belfast and beyond, performing on Fallon on US TV, protesting the US military at SXSW, with no signs of stopping.
Jordan Adetunji meanwhile, blew up with his song ‘Kehlani’ which went on to get a version of the song featuring the singer and has the Belfast rapper and artist poised for mainstream success.
The rest of the week brings new shortlist announcements:

Classic Irish Album – further details Thurs 9th January
(winner announced ahead of the live event)
Irish Song of the Year 2024 – shortlist Fri 10th January

The public vote for SOTY will open on Friday 10th January.
