Choice Music Prize reveal Irish Breakthrough Artist & Irish Artist nominees

The Choice Music Prize has announced nominees for two of the new categories following the Irish album of the year nominees revealed on Monday.

The nominees in these two categories were chosen by separate judges (see below), and will be announced at the live show on March 7th at Vicar Street.

2023 Irish Breakthrough Artist of the Year:

• 49th & Main
• Jazzy
• John Francis Flynn
• ØXN
• The Scratch

2023 Irish Artist of the Year:

• Cian Ducrot
• CMAT
• Hozier
• Jazzy
• Lankum

Last year, Fontaines D.C. won Irish Artist of the Year 2022 award (for which I was a judge) and Cian Ducrot won Irish Breakthrough Artist of the Year 2022.

Tomorrow and Friday respectively, the Classic Irish Album and the Irish Song of the Year shortlist will be announced on Tracy Clifford’s RTE 2FM show.
