Dublin’s leading community radio station, DDR, is hosting a special 24-hour program as part of this year’s International Women’s Day on March 8th.
Called ‘Womxn’s Voices’, the national broadcast aims to serve as an “antidote to corporate International Women’s Day”.
The broadcast will feature interviews and shows from Cork (lead by Aisling O’Riordan of Quarter Block Party), Galway (lead by Gash Collective’s Lolz) and Belfast. The station, based in Dublin, will of course be running interviews and shows from the capital too.
2019 marks the third year that the activist station has run a special event to mark International Women’s Day. Cathy Flynn, the founder and programme coordinator says “It is great to be able to host a third edition of 24 Hours of Womxn’s Voices, and what makes it special is seeing the interest in this event grow every year. We are all very excited and honoured at Dublin Digital Radio to host this event which is such a strong and varied display of femme creativity. We really want Dublin Digital Radio to be a platform and a community for all kinds of expression – 24 Hours of Womxn’s Voices is one way we strive to do this”.
Keep an eye on the station’s social media pages for a schedule soon.
