Féile na Gréine hits Limerick this weekend featuring Junior Brother, Post Punk Podge, Citrus Fresh & more

Cathal Ryan

It’s that time of year again. Féile na Gréine, Limerick’s homegrown, not-for-profit, grassroots festival, has arrived – taking over venues across the city this weekend.

Sporting a spectacular lineup, the three-day festival will see acts of all genres play in various venues and pubs throughout the city, as well as a photography exhibition on Sunday morning.

Specially brewed Féile Pale Ale will also be available across venues for this weekend only, crafted by sponsors Crew Brewing Company and Treaty City Brewery.

While 2021’s event was set up in a pandemic-friendly manner, with acts like Jinx Lennon and Naive Ted – among others – traveling to different venues throughout the city as festival goers stuck to one spot, this year Féile will see a return to its original music trail set-up.

The immense line-up set to play in pubs and clubs all over the city includes Junior Brother, Post Punk Podge and the Technohippies, Brawni, Midweek, Vacuity, Messyng, Citrus Fresh, Girlfriend, and much more.

Chairperson Diarmuid Ó Sé said that community is at the heart of it all, that and the “sheer joy” the whole weekend brings.

Féile na Gréine lineup

“Féile na Gréine revolves around bringing the most forward-thinking and eclectic artists to Limerick for a weekend every summer. At the heart of it all is community building.

“Whilst the music is what draws everyone in, what we always look forward to the most is meeting old friends and new, and revelling in the sheer joy of what we’re doing.

“There is a hunger for left-of-field, DIY, and not-for-profit events all across Ireland. People come from all four corners just for our weekend and it fills us with pride.

“We even have someone flying from America who has made it to every Féile except for 2021 for obvious reasons (shout-out Tori Davis).”
