Brame and Hamo are two young Sligo guys now living in the electronic music hub of Berlin who make house music with a funk edge drawing influences from hip-hop.
Splendor & Squalour 001 is the the new release from the pair on their label that features a collaboration between them and a track from each of them on the flipside. Lead track ‘Clockwerk’ is pleasing deep funk house with some strong hip-hop influences that is reminiscent of Armand Van Helden’s early work at a lower tempo. That’s backed by a Session Victim remix.
On the flip, ‘Hamo’ sprinkles some hip-house rhythm while Brame goes for a more starry-eyed jazz-house flavour. It’s a really impressive release. These two Sligo dudes are two to watch.
