La Roux – ‘Uptight Downtown’

Elly Jackson came back to music as La Roux with ‘Let Me Down Gently’, a track from her first album in five years (without partner Ben Langmaid who she no longer speaks to). Here we have the single proper from the album Trouble In Paradise.

‘Uptight Downtown’ has a Talking Heads-style guitar chug to it, or a Bowie ‘Let’s Dance’ vibe to its shimmer. It’s certainly a more obvious radio pop song in its light-hearted brevity than ‘Let Me Down Gently’. The album is released on July 4th.
