Mr. Kieran Hebden has had a very productive year on the recorded front and in a live context, his sets this year have been among my favourite of any times I’ve seen him in the past: striking a great balance between his experimental, ambient and dancefloor sides. For anyone who thinks he just opens up his laptop and presses play would do well to see this explanation of how he keeps things interesting.
This live set, recorded at the Hostess Club Weekender at the Yebisu Garden Hall in Tokyo, Japan on December 1st is a nice embodiment of that.
