The Mayo singer-songwriter is hosting a creativity workshop series in Dublin this May.
The Artist’s Way is an influential book by Julia Cameron designed to kickstart creative thinking. It’s often associated with the Morning Papers, a daily writing/journal exercise aimed at reigniting creative interrogation for those who are burnt out.
Fresh from releasing her latest album Waiting Room, Maria Kelly is hosting an Artist’s Way 13-week course starting June 5th at Segotia in Rathmines, Dublin.
“I am continually navigating all these feelings through my work as an artist, and in the last year in particular, I’ve become so passionate about creating safe, welcoming spaces where people can explore whatever blocks are stopping them from making the beautiful things that they want to make,’ said Maria.
Based on the book by Julia Cameron, this course is a 13-week guided workshop for anyone who’s feeling creatively stuck, burnt out, or blocked. It’s a weekly space to slow down, and begin to rebuild your relationship with creativity — not for the sake of productivity, or industry goals, but for yourself. Everyone (professional-artist or not) is welcome.
Every week, we’ll move through each chapter, diving into journaling prompts and self-reflection exercises to help you overcome creative blocks, while cultivating community and artistic accountability in a supportive space. We’ll also have a community WhatsApp group to keep each other on track, and you’ll have access to a Notion template to track your progress. And of course, we’ll finish the 13-weeks with a group celebration.
