Each mix in the Nialler9 Mix Series features feature a theme and will be put together by some of my favourite DJs or musicians, local or international.
Jofr Akadottir, is a very talentd Icelandic singer from Reykjavik, who is a member of Samaris, who’ve just released new single ‘Black Lights’ on One Little Indian; who plays with Pascal Pinon (with sister Asthildur) and also under her solo project as JDFR.
Jofr is a regular visitor to Ireland from her home in Iceland, and has a kinship here, so I asked her to put together a mix of some Icelandic music to make is even closer to her country’s music before she arrives here this week to play some gigs.
Jofridur says:
This mixtape is for driving in the highlands, in rural landscape, stopping at a gas station, being alone and insignificant in nature, driving back home, dream about cats, caves and ice cream. Sun is high, spirits are wild. Love is eternal.
JDFR performs with Talos in Mitchelstown Caves on July 10 as part of Clonmel Junction Festival later this week, as part of the 5th birthday of Feel Good Lost (with projected visuals).
Then she is playing an Icelandic music tour that takes in a Homebeat Dublin show on July 19th, DeBarra’s Clonakilty on July 20th, St John’s Priory, Kilkenny on July 21st and then, Connolly’s West Cork on July 22nd.
