The former Saint Sister returns with the followup single to her debut single ‘I’ll Cry When I’m Dead’
Prepared to party, ready to cry?
The new single and video from Morgana for ‘Power Cuts’ sticks the landing in its sophisticated terrain of electronic-tinged pop music.
The song grapples with the experience of being person pursuing a creative endeavour which often is less financially rewarding than most regular jobs as friends make a life around you, in the backdrop of being an artist in their thirties in a young focused industry.
“Forced out of Dublin by crippling rents, while surrounded by friends buying houses, the frustration builds until it bursts. Morgana is jolted awake by a power cut, suddenly on a mission to find true happiness. She unravels the instinct to chase validation, rejects the concern to be liked by everyone, and wakes up, turns around, and dances off into the sunset on her own. Morgana says of the track, “It’s about throwing everything at the wall to realise my dreams.”“
Loving the shout out to Clanbrassil Street’s weirdest cocktail karaoke bar.
Watch the video shot by Soda Blonde musician and director Adam O’Regan in Ballintubbert Gardens and House.
Morgana plays The Great Escape on 16th May and The Road To The Great Escape earlier that month in Dublin.
