Kilkenny Night Time Economy’s new three-date outdoor series kicks off on Culture Night with Nialler9 and guest DJ Edel, running through Sing Along Social’s Witches’ Ball and a Kelly-Anne Byrne set into December.
Watergate Urban Park, the pocket park on Parliament Street in the heart of Kilkenny City, is getting a new outdoor dance music series this autumn and winter. Watergate Urban Park Block Party runs across three Friday nights, each free of alcohol and running 7:30pm to 10:30pm.
Friday September 18th – Nialler9 + guest DJ Edel
Part of Culture Night Kilkenny, this one features a DJ set from myself a genre-spanning night of disco, electronic, pop and ’80s/’90s jams with DJ Edel warming things up. All ages, free to attend, no ticket required.
Friday October 30th – Sing Along Social presents The Witches’ Ball
In partnership with the new Toil & Trouble festival, Sing Along Social bring their mass-participation, no-mic-required singalong to Watergate Urban Park, led live by the Craic Mechanics.
The set is built around the women who’ve soundtracked generations of witchy women, Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper, with support from DJ Bootsy. Fancy dress is encouraged. Tickets are €5 plus booking fee, available here.
Friday December 4th – Kelly-Anne Byrne
Presented in partnership with Yulefest, one of Ireland’s leading DJs takes the Parliament Street stage for a set of soul, disco, house and electronica. Over two decades, Byrne has held headline slots at many of Ireland’s top festivals and presented award-winning shows on Today FM, Phantom 105.2 and The Face Radio in Brooklyn. Tickets are €7.50 plus booking fee, available here.
