Friday is album release day and here’s a quick rundown of what’s been released on DSPs and vinyl in physical stores today (support them where you can).
Madlib – Sound Ancestors
After hearing some unreleased tracks, Kieran Hebden (Four Tet) approached Madlib with the idea of letting him edit some of his material into a coherent full-length. Sound Ancestors is the result, a sort of beat tape with heart.
Arlo Parks – Collapsed in Sunbeams
Rising UK soul. rapper releases debut record.
Anna B Savage – A Common Turn
As recommended on this week’s podcast, the London singer-songwriter’s debut album broods with intense and intimate songwriting and her quivering vibrato.
Celeste – Not Your Muse
Debut album from the tipped English soul and R&B pop artist on Polydor
Goat Girl – On All Fours
Second album by London punk band produced by Dan Carey (Fontaines D.C, Squid, Black Midi)
Weezer – OK Human
The band’s FOURTEENTH album.
Powell – On the feet of a Wind
“on the feet of a wind is a wild assemblage of carbonated synthetic music from Powell and a sister record to ‘flash across the intervals’ and ‘multiply the sides’ — two albums already released in 2020.
Your Grandparents – Your Grandparents Thru My Window
LA trio DaCosta, ghettoblasterman and Jean Carter make soulful R&B.
