The Nialler9 new music chart: Miniature Tigers, Tropics, Matthew Dear, Laetitia Sadier, MNDR & more
The best new music this week…
- Miniature Tigers – ‘Gold Skull’
Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor produced the Morning Benders album Big Echo. Morning Benders’ Chris Chu produced Miniature Tigers upcoming album Fortress but to further steep this into indie incestuousness, Neon Indian’s Alan Palomo actually produced this song ‘Gold Skull’ and it is lovely.
- Tropics– ‘Soft Vision’
Another Planet Mu artist, Tropics is the UK’s Chris Ward, and ‘Soft Visions’ is a six minute track that makes me want to hear more.
- Laetitia Sadier – ‘Long Legs’
Taken from Woolly Jumpers EP 1 out on June 26th through Wool Recordings, this fine slow-burner from Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadier kicks off the EP which also features Peter Broderick, Castanets and Double U.
- MNDR – ‘I Go Away’
Amanda Warner has been gaining fans over the last six months with her shows and her recent appearance on Mark Ronson’s new single. She has finally actually released some music formally in the form of new EP and this is a track from it.
- Lissie – Pursuit Of Happiness (Kid Cudi cover live)
The video of this recording from The Great Escape is here but the audio has been on repeat this week.
- Matthew Dear – ‘I Can’t Feel’
Matthew Dear releases a new album on August 17th called Black City. ‘I Can’t Feel’ is the first taster and a free download from his site.
- Meljoann – ‘So Academic’
Irish electro skwee funk. More details in the previous post.
- Civil Civic – ‘Fuck Youth’
Razor-sharp guitar and drum machines is the name of the game with Civil Civic. More info.
