Nialler9 Mix Series: Mix & Fairbanks – Linndrum mix
Each mix in the Nialler9 Mix Series features feature a theme and will be put together by some of my favourite DJs local or international.
It wasn’t intentional but the first two artists in the Nialler9 Mix Series are from my hometown of Newbridge, Co. Kildare. Something in the water for sure. Following on from DJ Deece’s Warmup Mix, Newbridge disco edits DJs and producers Gary O’Reilly and Rob Smyth aka Mix & Fairbanks delivered a stonking mix and is all themed around the ’80s Drum machine – the Linndrum.
“After the death of Prince, Facebook was flooded with people sharing their favourite songs and memories. One article that stood out to us was about how Prince revolutionised the use of the LinnDrum, a drum machine from 1982. We chose the LinnDrum as the theme for this mix, and picked some of our favourite tracks where it features. Most of the songs have been edited or remixed, some more than others, although we tried to stay true to the originals.”
You can catch Mix & Fairbanks this weekend at BARE in the woods and then at Body & Soul’s Absolut stage (along with Lumo), at Dublin City Block Party and Longitude. Dates.
Follow Mix & Fairbanks on Facebook, Twitter and Soundcloud.
