The Nialler9 new music chart: El-P, PVT, Solar Bears, The Field, Marina And The Diamonds, Janelle Monae..
The best new music this week…
- El-P – ‘Meanstreak in 3 parts’
Taken from the WeAreAllGoingToBurnInHell Megamixxx3 all-instrumental album, this is classic El-P. Another track ‘Whores: The Movie’ is available for an email swap.I’m very excited by the prospect of this released especially considering how great Vol. 2 was.
- PVT– ‘The Quick Mile’
A highlight of the new PVT (formerly PVT) album Church With No Magic which is out on August 9th. Previously.
- Solar Bears – ‘Bear Mountain’
Solar Bears passed on another new track from their upcoming EP with FUR’s Bryce Isbell. You can pre-order both their album and EP from Planet Mu.
- Bear in Heaven – ‘Ultimate Satisfaction’ (The Field remix)
The Field turns this Bear in Heaven album track into an epic eight minute slow jam.
- Marina And The Diamonds – Oh No! (Active Child remix)
Marina’s next video for ‘Oh No’ drops next week (preview) and a trio of remixes were let loose via bloggers yesterday, remixes from Grum, David’s Lyre and this, my favourite – the dub-tronic Active Child remix.
- Janelle Monae – ‘Faster’
Janelle Monae stakes her claim for Andre 3000’s leftfield hip-hop/R&B crown with her new album The ArchAndroid which features Saul Williams, Oh Montreal, Andre’s partner Big Boi and Monae’s distinctive style. ‘Faster’ is my favourite cut from the album right now, which is out on July 9th.
- Skeleton Jones – ‘The Great Escape’
Awesome jangly indie-pop from Ken McAllister formerly of 8Ball who goes under the name of Skeleton Jones. ‘The Great Escape’ samples The Dovers‘ ‘I Could Be Happy‘. Ken is also recording with other members of 8Ball under the name Bearbones and they are hoping to release an EP soon.
- Tennis – ‘Marathon’
Patrick Riley and Alaina Moore are a husband and wife duo from Denver, Colorado who bought a boat and spent eight months sailing around the North Atlantic Coast. While they did so they wrote some lovely songs and the first is released in late July on Fire Talk on 7″.
