Night-Time Economy Advisor role applications open for Cork city

Avatar

One of the recommendations of the Night-Time Economy Taskforce, included the establishment of six new Night-time Economy Advisors in six cities and towns to develop new Night-Time Economy opportunities, last year increased to nine in total.

That means roles as Night-time Economy Advisors (also called Night Czar in London, or the ambiguous to say out loud – Night Mayor elsewhere) are due to be appointed in Dublin City, Cork City, Limerick City, Galway City, Kilkenny, Drogheda, Sligo, Buncrana and Longford Town.

With upcoming license changes due that may, on principle, allow venues to open til 6am, allow longer pub hours, the abolishment of the archaic licensing system and cultural licenses changes to be implemented, now is the time to start filling those positions.

Cork City is the first town/city to announce its Night-time Economy Advisor role. Cork is offering the role on a two-year fixed term contract, and responsibilities include establishing a Night-Time Economy Committee, collecting local data for an action plan for Cork City, conducting an extensive Night-time Economy (NTE) consultation process to engage the local community, reviewing fundings structures, highlighting challenges and opportunities and developing an action plan for the NTE.
