The first six acts for St James’ Church are named for the 25th edition, which runs from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 November.
Other Voices has announced the first six acts for its 25th anniversary edition in Dingle: The Waterboys, Gilla Band, Julia Jacklin, Lambrini Girls, Knats and Brìghde Chaimbeul. The festival runs from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 November, a little earlier than last year’s December edition.
More Church acts and details of the wider programme are promised in the coming weeks. The road to Dingle starts in Dublin with Other Voices: Home at the Guinness Storehouse on Sunday 8 November.
The first six for St James’ Church
- The Waterboys: Mike Scott’s band have long had the west of Ireland running through their music, from Fisherman’s Blues to ‘The Whole of the Moon’, and this is a return to the Church.
- Gilla Band: the Dublin band’s loud, abrasive and unpredictable guitar music has been tearing up the rulebook for a decade.
- Julia Jacklin: the Australian songwriter makes the Church debut with songs that are wry, tender and honest, from her new album The Gem.
- Lambrini Girls: the Brighton punk band are furious, funny and political live.
- Knats: the Newcastle jazz collective build their sound on bass and drums, with swagger and groove.
- Brìghde Chaimbeul: the Skye musician takes the Scottish smallpipes in unexpected directions, blending traditional tunes with drones and intricate textures.
