The Barcelona festival marks its 25th edition from Wednesday June 2nd to Sunday June 6th, with Fontaines D.C., Gilla Band and Dove Ellis among 151 acts, and the first tickets on sale from October 8th.
Primavera Sound has announced the lineup for its 25th edition, centred on Barcelona’s Parc del Fòrum, with 151 acts confirmed. Headliners include Doechii, Phoebe Bridgers, Fontaines D.C., Massive Attack, Turnstile, Hayley Williams, FKA twigs, The Chemical Brothers, Robyn, Bad Gyal, Lola Young, Pavement, Skrillex b2b Ninajirachi, ADÉLA, Prospa and Caroline Polachek.
Four Irish acts are on the bill. Fontaines D.C. play ahead of their fifth album, Dopamine Chamber, out October 16th, and also headline Slane Castle later that month. Gilla Band follow the release of new album Pugnello, and Dove Ellis, whose debut album Blizzard is shortlisted for this year’s Mercury Prize, is also confirmed. Madra Salach, who have a new song ‘Ribbon Factory’ round out the list.
Several of the bigger names are making first appearances. Doechii plays her Spanish debut, The Chemical Brothers play Primavera for the first time, and Massive Attack are billed as making their long-awaited debut at the festival. Bonnie “Prince” Billy plays the Parc del Fòrum for the first time, 81-year-old Vashti Bunyan makes a rare live appearance, Julien Baker returns to solo performance after almost five years, and Bradford Cox revives his Atlas Sound project after seven years largely out of public view. ANOHNI plays a special set of songs by Lou Reed, and Pole performs his 1 2 3 trilogy.
Primavera say women lead the bill, with the overall gender balance across the lineup once again even. The range runs from pop (Kim Petras, Tinashe, Shygirl) and extreme rock (Converge, Full of Hell, Castle Rat) to club music from Bicep, Joy Orbison and John Talabot, with Canadian math-rock duo Angine de Poitrine and emerging acts including Westside Cowboy, Twisted Teens and ear also confirmed.

The festival opens with a free day on Wednesday June 2nd, with the main days running Thursday June 3rd to Saturday June 5th. Skrillex b2b Ninajirachi close the main festival, and Primavera Bits, the electronic closing party on Sunday June 6th, is headlined by Richie Hawtin, Four Tet and Dixon, who play together for the first time anywhere in the world in an eight-hour set of alternating sets. A complementary programme at venues around Barcelona is still to be announced, and Primavera Pro, the festival’s industry strand, returns for its 18th edition from June 2nd to 5th at a new venue, DHub.
