Pu$$yRap is an NTS radio show by Texas DJ Jody Simms centering women of color in music with emphasis on rap and hip-hop, and it’s about to make its live debut in Dublin this week.
Simms got its start on tour with US rapper Junglepussy, and has since grown into a regular NTS Show and has hosted two Boiler Room events.
This Friday, PU$$SYRAP is coming to a night party at Wigwam under the name PU$$YRAP PRESENTS: IRISHPU$$Y with rap and hip-hop all night, aided by Blankbar.
The Wigwam is PU$$YRAP’s Irish debut and the line features Jody Simms (US), SHADEDBYNATURE (UK), DJ Shaz (IRE), Big Cheeks (IRE) and BBYAMAZON (UK).
The club night is also the afterparty for Thrust Collective’s day party at Phase Space Studio in Rathgar, Thrust presents Lughnasa, from 4pm to 10pm, which is a BYOB event with visual art exhibitions, performances and sets from púca púca, mooncup and Florbit.
Thrust put on themed parties, which in the past have included Celtic Tiger, Braywatch and Bebo). Trust’s describe Friday’s event as a “pagan festival party” – “Irish swampcore siren meets culchie chic…if the Met Gala ever did a ploughing championships theme”.
