Irish alt-pop musician Ria Rua has returned with an excellent new song.
In her songs and in her working life, Ria Rua has often rallied against the norms, and the drummer/producer/singer continues that theme with her first single of the year.
‘I Love That For You’ is an evocative alternative pop song about following your own truth, whatever the expectations are placed on you, as a young, neurodivergent and queer Irish woman or not.
“As a teenager music consumed me, but everyone around me thought my best option was to settle down, work at a shop, and marry a local farmer. It’s took years of constant struggle, with myself and with family and friends, to come to terms with my truth – I can only be happy being myself and living my life in a way that feels to true to me. This song is about that journey, from fear to freedom.”
