Ryan Vail – ‘Fade’

ryan-vail1

I caught an impressive live set from Ryan Vail and his musical partner Katie Cosgrove while Other Voices was up in Derry a few weeks ago. Vail has been making music for a long time now, since he was 13 his bio claims. He’s had a couple of EPs over the last few years exploring a whispered pondering electronic sound. Not to mention the excellent Unknown SOAK remix from November.

The title track from his newest Fade EP sticks to the ruminating atmospheric vibe with some skittering percussion, hopeful piano chords and stirring strings. Not a million miles from Oliver Tank or a more downbeat less-intense Daughter.
