Shazam has rolled out a fresh feature, and it’s something you might assume it always had: music identification via your headphones.
According to details in the App Store’s update notes, here’s what is new.
When you are trying to Shazam a song on your phone, whether it is YouTube, TikTok, a Soundcloud mix or whatever, tap the headphone symbol on your Shazam screen and fingers crossed, Shazam is able to identify it.
So theoretically, any app playing music on your device will be recognised or identified if it’s in the database.
You can now identify music while wearing headphones (wired or Bluetooth). Simply open the app, check for the headphone icon to confirm your headphones are connected, and then start recognizing music around you or within apps like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
The update is also active on the app through the Google Play Store.
Also, pro tip – if you don’t already – you should definitely connect Shazam to Spotify and allow it to automatically create a playlist for you. I have a playlist of nearly 2000 songs I’ve Shazamed over the years here:
The Top 200 songs Shazamed in Ireland is listed here.
