For the first time in the history of this parish, a gig that will have started before we report. Fish Go Deep and collaborators go the distance, 1pm to 1am. - Indie ’19 @ Deer Farm, Mitchelstown (4pm, day tix sold out)
Brave the queues, pitch your tent, look around, try not to feel too old, and get stuck in. Headlining tonight: festival favourites Bastille. - LuxAlma & FreezerRoom @ Levis’ of Ballydehob (8pm, €10)
Sound-designer/composer Alma Kelleher is joined by Cork trip-hop veterans for a special performance. - Breaks & Beats w/Gary Fitz @ Dali (10pm, €10)
A techno night that does what it says on the tin! - The Bones Below @ DeBarra’s of Clonakilty (10.30pm, free)
Blues-rock/alt-folk fusion outfit, according to the band themselves. - Wired Deep @ Cyprus Avenue (11pm, €8)
Pre-Indie19 party for the Wired Deep residents.
SATURDAY AUGUST 3RD

Day tix still available for Saturday and Sunday. Headlining at the Main Stage are Catfish and the Bottlemen, while this parish recommends Cherym and Happyalone. Say hello to Ray Wingnut at the Heineken Stage at 6pm, for your writer, also. - The Monolith @ Cyprus Avenue (1pm, €50)
An all-day festival of metal in the heart of Cork city, including international headliners like Rotting Christ, Terzij de Horde and Hundred Year Old Man, plus the cream of Irish heaviosity, including zhOra and Malthusian. - Club Comfort x Out of Space @ The Roundy/PLUGD (8pm, €5)
Acclaimed Dublin night Club Comfort’s Roo Honeychild takes the wheels of mechanised steel, alongside certified Cork city legend Aisling O’Riordan, providing a Pride-weekend alternative. - Mother @ Dali (9pm, €15)
Another big Dublin night down for Pride, as Mother residents serve up synth, electronics and disco ’til close.
SUNDAY AUGUST 4TH

Day tix still available for Saturday and Sunday. Headlining at the Main Stage are Biffy Clyro, while you’d be well-served to see Pretty Happy, and pay respects to legends like The Undertones and The Frank and Walters. - Paddy Dennehy @ Levis’ of Ballydehob (8pm, pass-the-hat)
The village venue in Ballydehob plays host to a singer-songwriter endorsed by Glen Hansard, among others. - God Alone, Worn Out & Grief Eater @ The Poor Relation (8pm, €5)
A triple-decker of live metal to assist with alternative Pride festivities, including new material from God Alone. - Niall McCabe Band @ Coughlan’s (9pm, free)
Transatlantic soul man and his collaborators hit the back room on Douglas Street for an intimate session. - TABOO @ Dali (10pm, €tbc)
Hip-hop, R&B, dancehall and Afrocentric beats to round off the weekend for the venue on Carey’s Lane. - Mockie Ah! Pride Party @ Cyprus Avenue (10pm, €10)
The Haus of Mockie Ah! sets forth its stall for the annual Pride extravaganza, with guest performers, DJs and Candy Warhol on MC duties.
