Former Queensryche frontman performs in a stripped-back show with local musicians, and all money going to the MusicGeneration Cork City programme. - Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa – Live ‘n’ Gigging @ Cyprus Avenue (9pm, €5)
Part one of the annual showcase gig series for one of the city’s landmark music education programmes: Music, Sound and Management at CSN.

- Foy Vance @ Cyprus Avenue (9pm, €15)
Bangor singer-songwriter comes to Cork on homecoming tour from a recording stint in Nashville.
THURSDAY DECEMBER 8TH
- Pierce Turner @ Coughlan’s (9pm, €20)
World-travelled veteran returns to Cork as part of a run of Irish dates. Former collaborator with Philip Glass.
FRIDAY DECEMBER 9TH
- Rusangano Family & Bantum @ The Kino (8pm, €16)
One of Ireland’s most influential musical outfits returns to the Kino for the Sudden Club Weekender. Bantum plays one of his first gigs since the release new album ‘Move’. - Heathers @ Triskel Arts Centre (8pm, €16)
Ellie and Louise MacNamara take to the TDC theatre in the Triskel, following a busy, singles-heavy 2016. - John Blek @ Levis’ of Ballydehob (8.30pm, €10)
Glanmire globetrotter notches up another date in his unending solo tour for new album ‘Cut the Light’. - Ye Vagabonds @ Connolly’s of Leap (8.30pm, €10)
An intimate evening of quiet songs by candlelight, with Anna-Mieke Bishop & The Widow D’arcy in support. - Soothsayer @ Fred Zeppelin’s (9pm, free)
Cork atmospheric doom merchants return to Fredz ahead of launch their new E.P., due at the end of December. - AfterDark @ Mardyke Complex, Sheares St. (9.30pm, free)
Following their success with the After Dark in the Hazel Wood stage at Electric Picnic, Generic People present a twice-weekly night of funk, soul and house DJs & live sessions. - Chris Power & Trawlerboys @ Gulpd Cafe (11.30pm, free)
Rusangano after-party vibes with Cuttin’ Heads Collective resident Chris Power providing live beats.
SATURDAY DECEMBER 10TH
- The Altered Hours @ The Kino (8pm, €13)
Cork psych-rock exponents cap off a landmark year with a headline set at Sudden Club Weekender. Support from the Bonk. - Dónal Dineen @ Connolly’s of Leap (8.30pm, €10)
This Ain’t No Disco head and legendary DJ returns to Connolly’s almost a year to the day he helped relaunch the West Cork venue. - Deep Sky Objects @ Brú Bar & Hostel (9pm, free)
Cork alt-rock/indie trio play an intimate show at the McCurtain Street venue before heading back to studio for the rest of the winter. - AfterDark @ Mardyke Complex, Sheares St. (9.30pm, free)

- Songwriters in the Round @ Cork Penny Dinners (6pm, €5)
Three guest songwriters perform their songs in acoustic mode, and share some stories and inspiration behind them. Funds raised go to Cork Penny Dinners. - Rozi Plain @ The Kino (7.30, €12)
Winchester pop songwriter and band finish off the Sudden Club Weekender, with The Shaker Hymn and Anna-Mieke Bishop in tow. - Lisa O’Neill @ Connolly’s of Leap (8pm, €15)
Singer-songwriter stops at Connolly’s as part of a tour to cap off a busy 2016. Her third album, Pothole in the Sky, was released in April on Plateau Records.
