The RTÉ Choice Music Prize Albums longlist is out

Luke Sharkey

It is officially that time of year again.

The RTÉ Choice Music Prize has released its longlist of albums eligible for the 2019 album of the year award.

This isn’t an indication of favourite picks, at this stage, the list only represents the albums which are eligible to receive the award.

The judges will take this longlist and whittle down via a process of voting to the shortlist, which will then be considered on the day of the ceremony for the prize.

Fontaines D.C. are there, it’s very likely the boys will be taking a brief hiatus from the better land to attend the ceremony on the night. Considering the impact that their debut LP Dogrel has had domestically and internationally, it’s a safe bet to assume they’ll make the shortlist.

Mango X Mathman’s Casual Work, Girl Band’s The Talkies, Sorcha Richardson’s First Prize Bravery, Dermot Kennedy’s Without Fear and Jafaris’ Stride will also surely feature heavily in the decision for the shortlist.

We’re not going to list out every album, because there’s only so much time in the day – check out the full list here.

If your album or your top pick isn’t on the list and is eligible, submissions are still open for its inclusion. You can email [email protected] to submit an album.
