Today is the 5th anniversary of the Dubstep Warz Breezeblock mix
Your night-time listening for tonight is the Dubstep Warz legendary Breezeblock which debuted on Mary Anne Hobbs BBC Radio One show five years ago today. Dubstep Warz was the dubstep mix which got me into the genre in the first place. It had the excitement of a new scene all over it, tunes like I had never heard before and seminal mixing contributions from Skream, Kode9 and The Spaceape, Mala, Vex’d, Hatcha, Crazy D, Loefah/Sgt. Pokes and Distance. It’s an aural account of dubstep at its most seminal time before “post-dubstep” artists like Mount Kimbie and Joy Orbison appeared and before Magnetic Man and Rusko brought it into mainstream pop territory. This is a very special broadcast which marked the arrival of dubstep.
