The Oakland “bossa nova dream pop” band Trails & Ways have released a free three-track EP of covers featuring renditions of M83’s ‘Midnight City’, Miike Snow’s ‘Animal and my favourite ‘Sure Thing’ by Miguel. Perhaps it’s because I wasn’t familiar with the original, it’s my favourite of the three, an R&B jam turned into a more aspirational-sounding love song.
I also recommend the band’s own ‘Mtn Tune’.
