Since launching last September, Twilight Thursday has provided a major boost to Limerick in the last week of every month, putting on free gigs, performances, and events in venues, pubs, and cafés around the city.
The initiative has seen performances from Aoife Nic Canna and Hazey Haze, alongside trad music sessions, a sober room party, and a raft of other shows and workshops.
Now, as the night grows month by month, Limerick’s Night Time Economy Advisor Craig Power is calling on creatives in the city to apply for funding for events and shows.
Performers, musicians, street entertainers, theatre groups, cultural and arts organisations, event organisers and creative collectives, venues interested in hosting special programming, and individuals, groups or collaborators with unique ideas are all invited to apply.
Organisers say new, unique and experiential events will be prioritised, but applicants are encouraged to submit on more than one occasion. Funding is available under two strands for successful applicants: up to €2,000 or over €2,000 for large-scale events.
Any prospective performer or group looking to apply for funding should have valid insurance coverage organised. To apply, an overview of the entertainment or event, the planned date, some work examples, and the total cost should be sent to the council.
The deadline to apply for funding for a Twilight Thursday event this month (Thursday, February 26th) is Wednesday, February 11th, but applications for future Twilight Thursdays are open. You can read more about the application process here.
