Video: Odd Future - 'Sandwitches' (Live on Jimmy Fallon)

Odd Future Odd Future

I’ve read lots of features on Odd Future (full name: Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All or OFWGKTA) lately, the LA-based grisly teenage rap collective but I didn’t know where to start with them. Karl is always going on about them. Tyler The Creator’s ‘Yonkers’ is an amazing tune but the divisive tactics employed in the video made me hit the trash button.

Well, last night Tyler The Creator & Hodgy Beats from Odd Future played Jimmy Fallon backed by house band The Roots, and the visceral kick in the face of their rap was ready apparent to all right there in visual form. Just watch Mos Def at the end of the video, hoarsing himself stupid because he couldn’t do anything else but react on a primal level. You’re going to see this on a lot of blogs today. SWAG. More live footage of the madness live in NYC.

I’m not going to pretend I know all about OFWGKTA so feel free to leave links to recommended mixtapes etc for all in the comments. I’ve downloaded Tyler The Creator’s Bastard after a recommendation.

actual lol! so true.. im a bit of a newbie to these guys too- will be checking them out.

  2. I haven’t listened to all the mixtapes yet but from what I’ve heard so far it’s pretty much all brilliant. Mellow Hype – Blacked White (that this Sandwich track is from)is great as well as the EARL and BASTARD tapes.

    GOLF WANG!

    FUCK STEVE HARVEY!

Following Tyler The Creator on Twitter also comes highly recommended. His favorite form of promotion is telling Nah Right and the other 50 post a day mafia to go fuck themselves.
