Watch Irish bands fly the flag at KEXP sessions at Iceland Airwaves
The new music festival Iceland Airwaves is happening again in Reykjavik and our man Simon Roche is sharing experiences from it on our Insta Stories all weekend.
The Irish bands are notably making an impact this year with not one but three performances on Seattle radio station KEXP’s live video session channel. KEXP has been broadcasting live from Iceland Airwaves and Kex Hostel in Reykjavik for a number of years along with their regular US programming (Fontaines D.C. credit their break to a KEXP session for example).
At Airwaves, three Irish bands we love performed live for KEXP: AE MAK, Pillow Queens and LOAH (who replaced Just Mustard’s planned set when their gear didn’t arrive from Dublin airport – heartbreak). Watch their shining performances flying the flag for Ireland abroad below and check back next week for our Airwaves coverage and a special video session with AE MAK recorded with the volcanic Mount Esja as a backdrop.
