Watch: No More Hotels’ documentary about why Clubbing Is Culture
Last Culture Night, the club night and culture-over-tourism advocate group No More Hotels teamed up with visual company Algorithm and PR agency Thinkhouse to highlight Dublin city’s loosening of spaces in the club sphere.
Through light projections of footage from clubs past, projected onto the spaces where they used to stand or what replaced them like hotels and student accommodation, the Clubbing Is Culture initiative highlighted what has been lost plain to see on buildings in the city.
Now, the group have released a 20-minute documentary which explores the idea of clubbing as culture, why it’s important, why we need it, why we need to fight for it in the city and around Ireland and more.
Participants include Dublin Lord Mayor Hazel Chu, theatre maker Philly McMahon, journalist Una Mullally, DJ and Gxrl Code founder Mona Lxsa and designer John Mangru.
