Watch Twin Shadow's brilliant performance of 'To The Top' on Conan

I admired the audacity of Twin Shadow releasing ‘To The Top’ an over-the-top ’80s hair balla last month. I embraced it, others didn’t.

But last night, George Lewis Jr. and band performed the song on Conan O’Brien’s show and switched up the song to a more gospel-lead circular setup performance that is less histrionic than the original and more genuine and life-affirming. The tune even goes a little old-school rock’n’roll in the outro.
