Weekend Jukebox #3
What an amazing picture! If you look closely at the screen, she’s playing with FRACTALS! What a trippy office!
Anyway, here are nine songs for your bank holiday weekend.
Another high-quality Four Tet remix, I’ve become convinced he can turn his remix hand to any genre and we will come out spoiled. This track is a 9-minute menacing synth-driven opus that allows intricate Battles guitar lines to satellite an ever-pulsing beat.
Battles – Tonto (Four Tet remix)

Diplo remixing THE DECEMBERISTS!?! That doesn’t sound right and truthfully this remix is fairly weak by Diplo’s standards. I’ve included it more out of curiousity than quality. There are other remixes for this single from Junior Boys and Rob da Bank also.
The Decemberists – The Perfect Crime (Diplo remix)

The elusive bonus track from Happy Birthday rears its head finally.
Modeselektor – I Can’t Sleep (Without Music) feat. Maximo Park

Jape was talking about this band on his myspace blog yesterday so I checked them out. It’s telling that Chromatics have a cover of Kate Bush’ “Running up that Hill” as that’s the vibe going on here.

I’ve been giving Yo Majesty’s Yo EP loads of play lately so here’s another track from them. Slightly more subdued than most of their club tunes, this one’s got a catchy riff.

A very effective remix of Air’s “Mer du Japon”, the best song from Pocket Symphony grabs Air by the balls and fits them with shiny new house parts.
Air – Mer du Japon (Kris Menace remix)

This tune has been out for ages but I’ve had the chorus repeating in my head for about a month. Be warned it may do the same for you.
Sinden and Count of Monte Crystal – Beeper

Thanks to Dirk for sending this one. After The Bug gig last Friday, I’ve been searching for a Kode9/ Spaceape /The Bug remix (presumably) he played that night. This isn’t that song but it is excellent regardless. Features Killa P and Flow Dan on vocals.

An older tune from Milanese, from his 1 UP EP on Warp. Features a 2-step rhythm with breaks and loads of atmosphere.
