Fancy pants effects-laden new video for Chvrches new single ‘Gun’. The band’s debut album The Bones Of What You Believe is out in September. They’re playing Electric Picnic too.
Just in time for Summah, it’s the latest podcast featuring a solo run from me (Aoife is a bizzy lady at the moment). 14 songs taken from recent and greatest releases this year and beyond.
No not that Gangnam bloke. Jade Pybus is a vocalist who released the attention-grabbing mixtape Tripping On Wisdom and has worked with UK dance producers like Throwing Snow, Lapalux and Damu. Her own debut single Polyethers is a lush track that rivals the likes of SBTRKT and Flume in the soulful R&B electronica/ good music stakes.
Last month, Forrests supported And So I Watch You From Afar, the night before they played in London with hotly-tipped Danish pop singer Mø. That’s a good showing from a duo who have yet to formally release anything. But all that will change next month when Paul O’Reilly and Owen O’ Mahony release the Wilder EP on BlastFirstPetite Records on July 8th.
The six-track EP will feature ‘Billions’ and ‘Tarifa’ the first two tracks the band previously released onlnie alongside four other new tracks. The band will be playing Body & Soul too at the Midnight Circus stage just after 10pm next Saturday.
Watch their performance of ‘Billions’ on Other Voices from this week on the RTE Player. It starts at 32.05. Tracklist of the EP below.
The stage times for the Body & Soul festival have been announced and it looks like James Murphy’s DJing on the Friday, Nick Cave and Fuck Buttons on the Saturday while Solange and Nicolas Jaar are on the Sunday.

Let’s hit the beach(bar)! Todd Terje is back with another summer shaker in the form of ‘Strandbar’. The Norwegian producer follows up last year’s summer hit ‘Inspector Norse’ with a track that oozes holiday getaway times with its piano-led funky rhythm and lazer synths for a nine-minute disco workout. There’s also samba and bonus mixes.
As part of National Music Day next Friday, June 21st, Nialler9 and Le Cool present Altered, a night of music from 7pm til 11pm in the main nave and the crypt of the oldest building in Dublin. There will be no lineup announced in advance. Tickets are free but limited to 200 people.

The gig will also be live-streamed on the night.
Melbourne five-piece band Snakadaktal’s debut single ‘Dance Bear’ was one of the better starry indie tunes I’ve heard in a while back in January. The band have a debut LP Sleep In The Water coming out in August on the Liberation label. ‘Ghost’ is the first song that the band have let us hear from it and it’s nothing like ‘Dance Bear’, the track is all atmospheric shimmering production and a video to boot. Definitely a band to look out for more from.
The five track EP leads with ‘Loveleen’, a downbeat piano and beat track that has the hook “money / bitches / hoes/ greed / pussy / lord knows” and has Rejjie finding his own voice on the subsequent two and a half minutes. The rest of the EP features collaborators Jesse James and Loyle Carner.
