THURSDAY NOVEMBER 30TH:

Sling Slang @ The Friary (8.30pm, free)
The Friary’s weekly spoken-word night continues, with Unscene Music’s Clerk 5 reciting alongside West-Cork based bard Cormac Lally and White-Line Fever man Ali Bracken.

LOAH @ Cyprus Avenue (9pm, €13.50)
Irish/Sierra Leonean singer-songwriter brings her ‘art-soul’ to Cyprus Avenue while touring new EP ‘This Heart’.

The Shaker Hymn @ Coughlan’s (9pm, €12)
Following the release of single ‘Dead Trees’, Corkonian five-piece The Shaker Hymn conclude a short run of dates on Douglas Street. Support from Patrick Freeman and band.

Council for the Dark Arts Orchestra @ The Roundy (9pm, €5)
The supergroup from the end of GULPD Cafe returns in full for another bout of noise-making. That line-up in full: Elaine Howley, Eilis Collins (vocals); Kevin Terry, Ruairi Dale (clarinet); Dan Walsh, Marcus Gordon, Jabin Ward (sax); Mick O’Shea (electronics); David Mathúna, Arthur Pawsey (keys); Cathal MacGabhann (guitar); Mr. K, Patrick Cullen, Roslyn Steer (bass); Wayne Dunlea, Sollamh Kelly (drums).

The Sunshine Factory @ Crane Lane Theatre (9pm, free)
Cork psych-pop/shoegaze five-piece launch their debut EP in the surrounds of the Crane Lane Theatre.

Wild Front @ Fred Zeppelin’s (9pm, free)
Indie/alt-inflected folk crew come over from the UK on Irish tour behind their self-titled debut EP. Support from Rowan.

Daithi & Le Boom @ Church (10pm, €10)
A double-dose of electronica from Galwegian producer Daithí O’Drónaí and Dubland/Brooklyn duo Le Boom at the newly-established Hanover St. venue.

Space Dimension Controller @ Cyprus Avenue (11pm, €15)
Belfast electronica weirdo fuses retro-futurist aesthetic with dance’s rapidly-establishing traditions. Ought to be a winner upstairs in the big black box.

Paradox @ Crane Lane Theatre (midnight, free)
Cork’s long-running grunge loyalists continue gigging new material after over two decades together with a midnight excursion to the Crane.

FRIDAY DECEMBER 1ST:

Malojian @ Coughlan’s (9pm, €12)
Following the release of album ‘Let Your Weirdness Carry You Home’, Malojian returns to Coughlan’s with Mark Mckowski (of the Lost Brothers) in support.

In the Attic: Stranger Sounds Sessions @ The Friary (9pm, €5 donation)
The biggest little pub in town keeps showcasing new and odd sounds upstairs in its mezzanine area. This month: Cork freak-folker M.SEA, Limerick electronic outfit KODU and improv droners Correspondent.

Techno Fridays @ Cyprus Avenue (11pm, €5)
The Techno Fridays residents head upstairs again for another night of all the genre has to offer upstairs in Cyprus Ave.

SATURDAY DECEMBER 2ND:

Oranges @ The Roundy (8.30pm, €5)
Three-piece Dublin supergroup featuring members of Thread Pulls, Cap Pas Cap and Maximum Joy, among others. Support from Baby, Red and Wolf at the decks.

Archaós @ Fred Zeppelin’s (9pm, €5)
Cork metal outfit launch their new extended-player upstairs in the red room, with help from the best of a new generation of Cork metal and alternative: Aponym, Red Sun Alert, Pretty Happy and Limit 60.

Stop Making Sense @ Cyprus Avenue (11pm, €12.50)
That Talking Heads night you ordered is in. DJs spinning the best of NYC tunes at either end of a HD screening of one of the greatest concert films, bar none. Get in early.

SUNDAY DECEMBER 3RD:

The 5th Floor @ The Friary (9pm, €5)
A dose of what the band refer to as “striking melodies, tuneful harmonies and devastating emotion” upstairs in the Friary. Support from the Choke Collective.

CorkLovesMusic: Funding & Supports @ Alchemy (8pm, free)
Rough Sunday, Leah Sohotra and Christine Cusack play tunes while Angela Dorgan (First Music Contact), Ciaran Walsh (Culture Ireland) and Jean Brennan (Cork City Council) discuss funding and options for music and music projects.
