Got the new Simian Mobile Disco remix album Sample and Hold today. I love the way it’s named after this. I’m not actually a huge fan of Attack Sustain Release but ‘Sleep Deprivation’ is great as is that remix they did for The Kills way back. Also their recent FabricLive mix (check out my interview with them) was something I never mentioned here but is also really good. It’s got Green Velvet on it so it has to be.
I’m liking some of the stuff I hear here though which includes remixes from Shit Robot, Pinch, Cosmo Vitelli and Silver Apples (which in itself is very random). There’s also a Chrome Hoof mix not on the promo which I’d really like to hear. Anyway, here’s a sample of the record, a remix of ‘Sleep Deprivation’ by Simon Baker which also features on the Fabriclive mix albeit in shorter form. Old school.

Buy the album (out July 28th) from Amazon.

yeah, good reference with the album title; that tune is an old Undersea favourite too 😉
A remix from Silver Apples? blimey.
simon baker is a great producer, really like this.
similar enough to another of his tracks called “confused”, check it out if ya like
After their last release ‘Attack Decay Sustain Release’ taking care of the envelope section, the ‘sample and hold’ reference was prob just taken straight of the LFO section of a synth. Pity though.
yeah….even though the neil young tune is killer, the name is more likely a reference to the synth parameter(ala attack sustain decay release)
I won’t hold it against you if you don’t do much synth programming
