Luke Jerram’s glowing lunar sculpture is on display to Dublin’s Merrion Square for Science Week this week.
To celebrate 30 years of Science Week, from Thursday 13th to Saturday 15th November, Luke Jerram’s seven-metre moon sculpture is on display in Merrion Square.
The moon, lit internally and mapped with 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface, allows visitors to get up close with the moon at a scale of approximately 1:500,000 (each centimetre of the model represents 5km of the moon’s terrain).
A programme of musical performances across three nights also takes place to mark the display featuring some Nialler9 regulars, including Glasshouse Ensemble performing the Spiritualized classic album Ladies and Gentlemen, We Are Floating in Space.
