Arts, food & wellness
Beyond The Pale has given a first look at what’s coming arts-wise this June with 75 artworks and events are planned across the Valley, with the full lineup dropping in April, as curated by THISISPOPBABY’s Jenny Jennings.
Shane Daniel Byrne’s Comedy Shithouse brings together a who’s who of alternative Irish comedy; Steo Wall’s The Pavee Club shines a light on outstanding talent from the Irish Traveller community; We Are Griot bring a festival edition of their spoken word night Talkatives; Outstraight Records take over the paddock with a high-energy hip-hop programme; and Burning Circus debut a new dedicated area with headline fire shows, flow workshops and DJ sets. Bang Bike: Analogue Bubble Bath – the battery-powered pop-up party – returns, alongside cult cabaret spectacle EGG Cabaret, Climbwallsweird, Boolaboom, and club night TENDER.
Una Mullally’s Grianstad: The Trip is an immersive audio journey drawing on the land and mythology of St Kevin, while Undercurrent – created by Amyrose Bryan – marks Ireland’s first bespoke festival flag commission. John Francis Flynn’s new band Paahto & The Bull will headline the Puc Fada lineup.
Beyond The Plate returns too, with Ali Dunworth back at the helm and a new theme – The Spice Bag Edition – celebrating the global influences on Irish food through tastings, collabs and food storytelling. Three Dublin restaurants join the programme: Host (Ranelagh) bringing fire-led cooking and shared plates, cult Rathmines pizzeria Reggie’s, and Ibíle with bold West African flavours. Capacity for sit-down dining is limited – registration is open now for first access at itsbeyondthepale.ie before bookings go public.
On the wellness front, there is luxury glamping, pre‑pitched bell tents, saunas, cold‑water dips, and the return of the Acushla wellness area, whose full programme will be announced in the coming weeks. A new karaoke pop‑up debuts in the main arena hosted by official charity partner Dublin Simon Community, alongside the return of the charity’s Beyond The Trail, with over half of this year’s places already snapped up following last year’s Wicklow Way hike that raised €19,000.
