‘Walk On By’ and ‘What’s New Pussycat?’ are the two songs covered by the Irish singer-songwriter who has supported Bacharach in the past.
Walk On By’ was made famous by Dionne Warwick and ‘What’s New Pussycat?’ by Tom Jones but Bacharach wrote the song.
Burt Bacharach is one of Paddy Hanna’s personal music heroes, and these two songs are an indication of a greater project featuring Bacharach songs coming later in the year, that serve as the follow up to Hanna’s excellent Oylegate album.
In 2019, Hanna supported Bacharach for two nights in Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens and at the Galway International Arts Festival, where the legend was so impressed with Hanna’s opening performance, that he invited him onstage for an encore in Galway, performing ‘Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head’.
