Trevor Dietz – affectionately known as Trev Radiator was known as one of the most influential figures in Dublin’s independent music scene has passed away.
Trev was known as a booker and promoter at The Workman’s Club, a place intertwined with the other role he was known for as artist manager for Fontaines D.C. since their beginnings ten years ago in 2016.
Trev was a fixture at the Workman’s Club and Garage Bar, where he spent years booking and promoting nights and clubs like Somewhere? Wednesdays. Dietz often spotted, develop and supported emerging Irish talent – often being among the first to give new bands a stage on his Bank Holiday nights.
That instinct led him to Fontaines D.C., whom he first encountered in 2016, putting them on at the Workman’s before transitioning from promoter to manager. He helped mastermind the band’s journey as one of the now biggest Irish bands in the world and biggest rock bands on the planet – it’s fair to say he was the first person to really see Fontaines D.C. potential.
They shared a statement about him today:

“We are utterly heartbroken to let you know that on Sunday June 7th we lost our dear friend and manager Trevor.
Trevor was beside us from the beginning of our journey as a band, we have never known Fontaines D.C. without him, the sixth member of the band. He cared passionately for us and for what was fair and right in the wider world. He was fearless in his beliefs. We will miss him always.
We ask that you kindly respect our privacy and that of his family at this terribly difficult time. RIP Trev.”
He’s also credited with giving early help to bands like Just Mustard and The Murder Capital.
Trev started out as a DJ and club promoter of Radiator – the rock’n’roll club he ran in Eamonn Doran’s and The Hub. His early promoted nights from the early 2000s gave Dublin an alternative space for dances and Trev was a rock kid who wasn’t afraid of a dance record either.
Trev gave so many artists, bands and DJs a leg up and continued to do so until his passing at 54 this week.
In recent years, Trev was an outspoken social media about the genocide in Gaza and a vocal supporter for Palestine.
May he rest in peace.
