The Dublin band that fed members into The Cast of Cheers, All Tvvins, MEDZ and Galvo’s projects have remastered their only album for streaming.
September Sun were a Dublin band who released one album, Low Engine Angel, in 2006. It was recorded by Mark Galvin and mixed by Mick Richards at Trackmix. Then the band split, and its members went on to a good chunk of the Irish alternative music of the following 15 years. A remastered edition of the album is now on streaming platforms, with the lead single ‘Chasing Dragons’ on Youtube.
The album is post-grunge, melodic alternative rock, written and produced by the band. The remaster adds ‘Crown the King’, with guest vocals from Val. It also includes ‘Fluxus’, a version of ‘Senza Protezione’ by the Turin band Fluxus, who allowed the music to be used intact while September Sun wrote new English lyrics.

Where did the band end up?
- Conor Adams and John Higgins formed The Cast of Cheers. Adams then teamed up with Lar Kaye of Adebisi Shank to form All Tvvins, who are playing their debut album in full in Dublin on November 5th. His current project is ONO YA, with Sinéad White of Houseplants, which we covered when it launched.
- Stu Galvin formed MEDZ, the Swords alternative rock band, whose debut album Beneath My Sleep came out in 2015.
- Galvo formed A Dark Horse and released solo work including the album The HeARTist. His latest project is Bán & the Bright Spear, with A Dark Horse collaborator Hugh Rodgers. I featured a song from Galvo in 2023.
- Aristodemo (Mino) Vitelli came to the band from the Pescara psychedelic and space rock band Perizona Experiment, who formed in 1998 and recently marked their 25th anniversary with the retrospective 25 on Vina Records.
The line-up on the album was Mino Vitelli, Stu Galvin, Conor Adams, John Higgins and Galvo.
