Fresh from the announcement that The Field will be playing Electric Picnic, this arrives. One of last year’s best bands, Foals, get their epic dance groove on with The Field’s ‘The More that I Do’ which as Darragh noted samples Cocteau Twins’ Lorelei’ and is from the Swedish producer’s new album Yesterday and Today.
There are no guitars to be heard here – the Oxford band have added some thump to the groove. Where the original was content in its epicness, this one steers closer to murky Chemical Brothers psychedelic breakdown euphoria. The single is out now on Kompakt. Compare and contrast.

The Field + Foals = Magic … great mix. Love it.
Love The Fields, and the Cocteau Twins’ Lorelei is one of those tracks that is deeply ingrained in my memory. To have the two combined is a wonderful mix of the past and present. It really works for me anyway. Not convinced that the Foals adds anything to do this though. Maybe I’m not getting deep enough into the mix. That was always my problem; never getting deep enough into the mix 🙂
Haha.
It’s not an outstanding remix on repeated listens. More interesting to see what they did with it.
I love Foals but I do not love that remix. I’d never heard of The Field before though so cheers for that one!
