Aoife McCann has shared a new three-track collection of Æ Mak music named after the city where she moved in 2021.
It features previously-released single ‘Shimmer Boy’ and ‘Baked Cheesecake’ a song co-produced by Kojaque. Additional production and mixes on the EP comes from ATRIP and David Noonan (Just Mustard).
“Me and my best mate El moved to Berlin Autumn 2021 on broken hearts and dreams of building a new home,” says McCann on Insta. “I made a bunch of songs that Winter; sexting, dancing, chest flames, clubs, self-destruction, rebirth and baked cheesecakes.
‘Baked Cheesecake’ is about moving to Berlin with her best mate El.
“We moved in with our beaut mate Timothy and his gorgeous apartment, where we’d a month of heavy partying – heartbroken and lusting lying hungover on that big navy couch crying – eating baked cheesecake that Timothy made, lost and so sad but excited and exploring being giddy gremlins, making new connections with beautiful people, being queer.”
“This one’s for us, Ello, my elvin queeeen. Sent the track over to Kojaque to see if he wanted to do some production on it and mix it, bring it to where it needed to go. He did. Buzzed.”
Æ Mak tours Ireland and the UK starting tonight. She’ll be supported by Fears.
