An unreleased Daft Punk DJ mix from February 1997 has been rediscovered by the Leeds DJ Ralph Lawson, founder of the 20/20 Vision label. He uploaded it to SoundCloud on October 29th, as reported by Mixmag.
The duo recorded the mix as a guest set for Lawson’s Trans Europe Express show on Kiss FM. The tape turned up while he was searching through his archive, but it was broken and ripped, and had to be repaired by Great Bear Digitising in Bristol before it could be played.
Lawson worried at first that it might be the duo’s BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, which aired in March 1997, but once he played it he confirmed it was a separate, original recording. Mixmag says it’s full of Chicago house, scratching and the fizzing groove of the Homework era.
