Every Friday, I pick out four new music picks from the best of the music blogosphere as part of my Day & Night digital section. Follow Day & Night on Twitter or Facebook. It’s out today in print with every copy of the Irish Independent.
CYMBALS
Cymbals ply their trade in catchy future indie-pop with a dose of the sonic jitters. ‘No Bad Decisions’ is the Oxford band’s excellent new single.

TV Girl
Conjuring up everything that’s wonderful about listening to old soul records, this San Diego band may be throwbacks but the sampled strings of ‘I Wonder Who She’s Kissing Now’ place us in the here and now of bloody good pop music.
Girl Band
Bitzl R and The Point Of Everything were impressed by Dublin’s Girl Band’s debut single of grungy loud rock In My Head last week. As you might predict, there are no girls in the band.
A$AP Rocky & Theophilus London
Two contrasting rappers, one with purple swagger and one friendly to the fashion industry combine on a track which samples Shirley Bassey’s Big Spender.
